As an entrepreneur, there will be so many times when you'll be presented with situations that you will have a hard time grasping. Not so surprisingly, you will have absolutely no control over such a situation other than having a meaningful dialogue. In this blog, I'll explore some of such situations that I have faced and I would say braved too!

The Client Refuses to pay
Arey this time it was full on Kahani Ghar Ghar ki Style fraud. So, the lady Ahirekha Bing, who owns a firm called Swift n Travel based out of Namma Bengaluru not only refused to pay but also edited a phone recording. I mean, mad reshpekt.
But then, I think "write-off" was something invented for people like these only. Also, you can get frustrated but we know how efficient our judiciary is and also, there are other good clients that I need to focus on so, it's okay, it's just business. It hurts badly but ab chalta hai!
Suddenly everyone is falling sick
Come November, and you know the seasonal hell will break loose on you and your team. You simply cannot blame the poor people for falling sick. As a business owner, and I am not going to lie here, I don't like it when people take an off (LOL YES!) but then I am a human too and I know how bad I'll feel if I am sick and my boss starts asking, so I just let the peeps take the leave.
I mean, if someone has to take a leave, they will take a leave, that is what they were created for so another policy is to not negotiate when someone asks for one. You simply cannot force anyone
You have tried a lot but the results aren't coming
Like there is this firm we work with, and they are doing an amazing job but given their niche, and the intellectual stuff that they talk about, no matter what we do, there will be only so many interested people. Another instance of this is another organisation, where we were trying hard, killing ourselves but then the cost per install wasn't going down.
You see, in our daily lives, we don't chase big goals, we just work for the small ones and in them, we live and relive our happiness. Like there was this client and after four months of dedicated effort, we were finally able to get one sale on the website. The moment, still fresh in my mind!
Your best employee is leaving
Oh damn, the pain. A lot of times it is also the employee you invested so much in and now they leave for a bigger better opportunity. Now, of course, you cannot stop them because they cracked such a huge firm that you simply cannot match the offer. It's a bittersweet feeling- you are happy because this gives you the validation that you have worked with great people, it also makes you feel, "ab Iska replacement kaha se laau"
Also, I have this philosophy, I'll never ever make a counteroffer. If I am creating such a free environment in my organisation, I want people to frankly tell me that they need a hike and then we can discuss it as adults. But, telling that they got a better offer elsewhere isn't the way I negotiate. If you have decided to leave, you leave- end of the discussion!
Some Random consultant will Give Gyaan!
In all honesty, and with all due respect for consultants, the very purpose of their existence beats me sometimes. Now, I am not arguing at the McKinsey/BCG level but the usual consultants, like people who just come to give gyaan and have absolutely no idea about how the operational stuff works. Digital Marketing is full of such growth hackers and startup consultants. I have met my fair share where such people said about making "snippets of the audience" or randomly threw terms in the name of SEO. We have also had times when the clients chose these experienced consultants over us and then came back crying!
You can call me mean but I am human and when such things happen i.e. people come crying back- I really want to say this- "Aa gaya mazaa, Or banle hoshiyaar!"
I laughed as I said this, that's a good start for today!
See you tomorrow again!
