5 things I should probably NOT tell about Entrepreneurship

Thanks to Sharktank, the already super fancy domain of being an entrepreneur has gotten just a bit too fancier! And while Anupam has done a great job at explaining things, being the quintessential chull-baaz of LinkedIn and also a self-proclaimed CEO/Founder, I would also talk about something.

However, as someone known for saying things that nobody says, I will keep up with the tradition and speak (more like write).

So, here we go!

It makes you Shit your Pants

I mean, it literally does. Every now and then, suddenly at 4 am in the night or when you look at the credit card bill and realise- damn, THE expenses crossed 1.5l this month- am I right with the way we are spending the firm's money? God, the salaries are too much! Will I crack the deal? Am I charging too less for these services?

You see- all of it makes you shit your pants- sometimes literally because you have this extreme pressure building up and the call isn't ending!

People Assume You are Successful

This is going to be a bit philosophical but, being successful is a feeling! So, you have to be able to feel it. As a business owner- you barely have that kind of time. Also, the moment you feel that "you have arrived", some shit breaks loose!

God! I love it how I am able to use cuss words while writing because it is MY OWN BLOG!!

Them Peeps is a Lot of Responsibility

Man! I tell you-giving out salaries is a major major responsibility. 99% of the entrepreneurs or people who jump into entrepreneurship do not think about it and end up hiring recklessly and then they end up not paying salaries and then hell hounds come visiting on the Social Media.

You all know about the recent Not-SO-Better debacles that happened and keep happening.

And so, if you are someone who is genuinely responsible and understand that many households are running because of what you pay- them nightmares are real and frequent.

You get good at Self Promotion

Yes, because you have to! Your brand, till it becomes bigger than you runs on your credibility. Hence, you have to learn and create a brand for yourself. In case, you aren't able to well, things get hard!

Also, just a word of caution- do not think that just building a brand for yourself will help! You'll have to show some results too :)

Failure is NOT Fine!

Nobody wants to fail- nobody! In one of my other blogs, I had mentioned that a lot of entrepreneurs, have to hang their boots someday but till the time that decision is taken- failure is never an option.

Even something as small as an unpaid payment makes you spiral into an abyss of, "how will I manage stuff"

It's tough okay! it's tough!

Of course, there are highs and lows but then- nobody wants lows- nobody!

I could go on and on and on but I don't want to! I am not a motivational speaker, I cannot be one either.

But yes, there is that- now you tell me- you really want to take up "being my own boss" still?

Oh btw, another one- you are never your boss- you have clients, and believe me- some of them (and they always come in multiples) are worse than your individual blood-sucking monster of a boss!
